Brief
In my role as one of the creative forces behind the Electro-R&B duo Tropic, I had the privilege of spearheading the visual aspects of our artistic expression. This multifaceted responsibility encompasses photographing, conceptualizing, and designing the cover art for our Dance/Funk EP, "Wildest Dreams," as well as its accompanying singles and promotional materials. Drawing inspiration from the innovative light artist James Turrell, I sought to infuse our visuals with a captivating interplay of light and color, mirroring the transcendental qualities of our music. Simultaneously, my passion for the 80s vaporwave neon aesthetic infused our designs with a unique nostalgic-futuristic vibe, forming a visual identity that bridges the past and future mirroring our own musical narrative.
I recognized the need for our cover art to be both captivating in a still image and dynamic in motion. Every design element was carefully considered to ensure it would come to life not only as static album covers but also in video form for Spotify Canvas and social media promotion. To maintain a cohesive identity while distinguishing between the singles and the EP itself, I established a unifying visual thread that evolved across all the releases. This meticulous approach not only helps us resonate with our fans but also conveys the evolution of our sound and narrative, making "Wildest Dreams" a truly multisensory and memorable experience.
